I'll be honest — 23 out of 100 is rough. The game called it a "Unique Perspective," which is a polite way of saying I was completely out of step with the community. On the Top 2020s Songs blind ranking, I only nailed one pick and missed on almost everything else. Here's the full breakdown of my selections vs. what 59+ other players thought.
Sometimes a low score tells you more than a high one. Let's dig in.

My One Bright Spot 🎯
drivers license – #1 (Perfect Match)
One out of ten. But what a one. Olivia Rodrigo's drivers license was the breakout song of the early 2020s — it broke streaming records, dominated TikTok, and became the soundtrack for a generation of heartbroken teenagers. Putting it at #1 was an easy call, and the community agreed completely. This was the song that defined the start of this decade in music, and we were unanimous on that.
The Near Misses
Bank Account – 21 Savage – #8 (±1 Off)
Technically this is my second-best result — just one spot away from the community consensus. I had it at #8 and the community placed it at #7 (or #9). For a track that's a few years older than the 2020s peak, 21 Savage still commands respect in these rankings. Close call, almost nailed it.
Wonder – Shawn Mendes – #4 (±2 Off)
Shawn Mendes' Wonder at #4 felt reasonable — it was a big album cycle and a mature step for him. The community moved it two spots, which suggests mild disagreement. Not far off, but not aligned either.
Don't Go Yet – Camila Cabello – #7 (±2 Off)
A fun, danceable Latin-pop track that I placed mid-list. Two spots off suggests the community either loved it more or was more dismissive. Not a catastrophic miss, but still contributing to my low score.
Where It All Went Wrong
Glimpse of Us – Joji – #10 (±7 Off — Worst Miss)
This is the one that hurt the most. I put Joji's Glimpse of Us dead last — #10. The community placed it a staggering 7 positions higher. That means the community likely has it at #3. This is the defining miss of my run. Glimpse of Us became a viral phenomenon on TikTok in 2022, one of the most emotionally resonant songs of the entire decade so far. The internet loves Joji, and I completely underestimated how deeply that song connected with people. Putting it last was a disaster.
Unholy – Sam Smith & Kim Petras – #2 (±6 Off)
I thought Unholy was a top-tier 2020s moment — provocative, Grammy-winning, and inescapable for months. I ranked it #2. The community pushed it 6 spots down. That's a massive disagreement. It seems the community views it as a novelty hit rather than a decade-defining song. Fair enough in retrospect, but I was clearly in the minority on this one.
I'm Good (Blue) – David Guetta & Bebe Rexha – #9 (±5 Off)
I ranked this summer anthem near the bottom and the community moved it 5 spots. I'm Good (Blue) was absolutely massive in 2022-2023 — it sampled Eiffel 65 and became an unavoidable club and festival staple. I underestimated how much staying power that song has in collective memory. Another significant miss.
The Business – Tiësto – #3 (±4 Off)
I ranked Tiësto's The Business at #3, giving it more credit than the community did. It was one of the biggest dance tracks of 2020-2021 and got enormous radio play, but the community ranked it 4 spots lower. EDM credibility doesn't always translate to community consensus in these rankings.
Head & Heart – Joel Corry ft. MNEK – #6 (±4 Off)
A UK club classic that was everywhere in 2020. I placed it mid-list at #6. The community disagreed by 4 spots. This song may have stronger UK/European resonance than global, which could explain why the community ranked it differently than I expected.
Bad Habits – Ed Sheeran – #5 (±3 Off)
Putting Ed Sheeran mid-list at #5 felt correct to me. Bad Habits was massive — it broke records on Spotify and was inescapable in summer 2021. Three spots off from the community suggests they either rank it higher as a legitimate banger or lower because it's so safe and mainstream. Hard to read this one.
Final Verdict: 23/100 – "Unique Perspective!"
Let's call it what it is: I was out of sync with the community on almost everything. Only one perfect match, two near-misses, and a pile of significant divergences — especially on Glimpse of Us (±7) and Unholy (±6).
The community clearly has strong feelings about emotional, internet-native songs like Joji's work, and they're more skeptical of Grammy-bait like Unholy. The TikTok generation shaped this category hard, and I didn't fully account for that.
My picks skewed toward mainstream commercial success and radio dominance. The community ranked based on cultural resonance and emotional impact. Those aren't the same thing.
23/100 is humbling. But that's the beauty of blind ranking — it shows you where your taste diverges from the crowd, and sometimes that's more interesting than agreeing on everything.
